Silky Milk Tea

Silky Milk Tea is one of two launch shades for Rock Colour Shampoo in Malaysia: a soft, warm brown for hair that has been lightened and wants to stay warm rather than drift brassy-yellow.

Milk tea is the shade people ask for by name in the salon chair: a warm brown with the sweetness left in, not a flat chocolate and not an ashy coffee.

Who it is for

Hair that has already been lightened, with warm-to-neutral undertones. If your colour is sliding towards raw yellow between salon visits, a warm brown deposit is what puts the “tea” back in milk tea. If your base already reads warm, this settles it rather than pushing it further toward orange. It is also one of the most consistently popular fashion colours in Malaysia, across home-dye and toning products alike.

How to use it

For everyday upkeep, mix it into your regular shampoo and leave it 3–5 minutes — most people should start here. Just come from the salon with freshly bleached hair (base level 7–10) and want a stronger first hit of colour? Use it on its own for 10–20 minutes instead, then switch back to the mixed method to maintain the result.

What to expect

Deposit shampoos are cumulative and gentle by design. One wash is a nudge; a routine is the result. How visible it is depends on how light your base is and how porous your hair has become — read your ends in daylight, with no filter, rather than guessing. It works best on hair that has been pre-lightened; on natural, unlightened colour there is very little for the pigment to hold onto.

How to use

Lather on wet hair

  • Method 1 · mixed with shampoo — Leave for 3–5 minutes, then rinse (Everyday colour maintenance)
  • Method 2 · colour play, used on its own — Leave for 10–20 minutes, then rinse (Bleached hair at base level 7–10)

Both methods are official. If the Malaysian packaging says a different time, follow the packaging.

Will Silky Milk Tea work on dark, unlightened hair?
No. A colour-depositing shampoo sits on the hair surface and cannot lighten anything. On hair that has not been lifted, you will barely see it.
Is this a dye?
No. It is not a hair dye and it does not cover grey hair — it tops up a colour you already have.
My hair was just bleached — can I use Milk Tea straight away?
Yes, and that is exactly what the colour-play method is for: use it on its own for 10–20 minutes, on bleached hair at base level 7–10. If your hair was not lifted that light, start with the mixed-with-shampoo method (3–5 minutes) instead — the deposit is gentler and easier to judge.
